ACUTE HOSPITAL EXPANSION

We have expertise in overseeing the expansion of acute hospitals, including the demanding requirements of vertical expansion over ‘live’ hospitals, where appropriate design, intensive pre-planning , programming & managing of the works are essential to successful project delivery.

SPACE PLANNING/UTILISATION AUDITS

As architects with skills in the design of hospitals and healthcare facilities, we can review existing accommodation to ensure the best & most cost-effective use of space. Comparisons can be made with recognised guidance documents to compare existing accommodation with current standards and advice given on re-planning options to improve efficiency and meet adjacency/inter-departmental requirements and to provide flexibility for future changes.

FIRE SAFETY AUDITS

We can undertake fire-safety audits in hospitals and other healthcare buildings to assess their compliance with fire-safety standards as required by Building Regulations Part B & relevant Health Building Notes and advise on works necessary to achieve compliance.

ACCESSIBILITY AUDITS

We can carry out accessibility surveys of hospitals and other healthcare buildings to assess their compliance with current access standards as required by Building Regulations Part M and advise on works necessary to achieve compliance.

INFECTION CONTROL AUDITS

We carry out infection control audits, including compliance of healthcare facilities with the guidelines of  NHS Estates – Infection Control in the Built Environment – and compliance of in-patient accommodation in newly-built  or existing, acute hospitals with SARI – ‘Infection Prevention & Control Building Guidelines for Acute Hospitals in Ireland ‘.

HIQA –NQS FOR RESIDENTIAL CARE SETTINGS AUDITS

We can inspect & advise on the compliance of existing and newly built residential care centres, nursing homes, etc. with the HIQA –National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland – requirements relating to the suitability of the design and layout of the physical environment for the building’s stated purpose.

CONSULTANCY SERVICES

As well as providing full architectural services on healthcare projects, we can also offer consultancy services to clients in relation to specific aspects of projects as well as to other design professionals on healthcare-related projects which may require specialist input.
